About us

Eyvör NCC-IS, the Icelandic National Competence Centre for Cybersecurity, is part of the European cybersecurity network under the ECCC (European Cybersecurity Competence Centre). The centre is a collaborative project between the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Electronic Communications Office of Iceland (ECOI), Rannís, the University of Iceland, and Reykjavík University. Its purpose is to strengthen competence, research, and innovation in the field of cybersecurity.

These partners have received direct funding from the European Union to strengthen the universities’ capabilities in cybersecurity, build knowledge and awareness in Icelandic society, promote dialogue between government and industry, and enhance Nordic cooperation in this field.

The goal of Eyvör NCC-IS is therefore to support research, education, and training in cybersecurity, while also making it easier for Icelandic entities to access international opportunities. Among its projects is the management of cybersecurity grants awarded to initiatives that enhance competence and capability in the field.

The Electronic Communications Office of Iceland (ECOI) currently leads Eyvör NCC-IS and is responsible for coordinating efforts and promoting a strong cybersecurity culture in Iceland. The centre has already begun awarding grants to projects that strengthen cybersecurity.
